Every position was searched for the mover's best move, assuming the other armies all play against the mover (and, in the team game, the partner). The search looks up to a few plies ahead on average and follows every exchange to the end, so a piece left hanging to any of the three is seen. Scores are material plus banked points against the rest of the table. It sees tactics, not long plans.
